Following the tragic news from Kemerovo (Russia) there is one more sad piece of news: this time from the press service of Volvo Ocean Race which sent to mass-media, including CBT, a message signed by the president of the Volvo Ocean Race, Richard Brisius.

Yesterday during racing in the stormy weather a member of the Sun Hung Kai/ Scallywag crew, John Fisher, fell overboard.

Race Control for the Volvo Ocean Race was immediately informed about this accident by the crew. Maritime Rescue Coordination Center joined to the searching of the missing sportsman at the place where the tragedy had happened. Unfortunately, the result turned out to be negative. Taking to account extremely cold water and stormy weather, John Fisher even being dressed in special survival suit, could hardly survive.

Crew members of  Sun Hung Kai / Scallywag are depressed. An investigation will be conducted, and all the witnesses of the incident will be questioned. The organization Volvo Ocean Race expresses condolences to the family and friends of the deceased. Meanwhile, the world race that started in Alicante in October of 2017, continues.
