Until the end of 2018 the Archaeological Museum MARQ (Alicante) holds a unique exposition of the Treasure of San Juan/ El Tesoro de Sant Joan d’Alacant.

It includes 501 gold and silver coins that were hidden in one of the houses of the village of San Juan in 1823, an epoch of political and economic instability in Spain. A person who hid this money for some reason, did not come back to get them back. The treasure was discovered 140 years later, when on the 13th of April of 1963 repairing works were started in the building, reports comunitatvalecniana.com.

Excursions with a tour guide along El Tesoro de Sant Joan d’Alacant exposition start: on Tuesdays and Saturdays – at 10:30 and 17:30. Sunday at 10:30.

Address of Museo Arqueológico Provincial de Alicante: Plaza del Doctor Gómez Ulla s/n. 03013 Alicante.
